Innovation Fund Denmark: Innoexplorer

Innoexplorer is Innovation Fund Denmark’s programme for researchers, supporting them in developing companies based on their research results. KU Lighthouse assists researchers throughout the entire application process – from refining and maturing the idea to developing a strong and competitive application.

Prior to submission, a pre-screening process is carried out, as is standard practice at all Danish universities. During this process, researchers work closely with innovation advisors from KU Lighthouse to strengthen the project and ensure that the application aligns with the programme’s criteria while demonstrating the highest possible quality and level of innovation. This helps establish a strong foundation for the project’s further development and enhances its chances of success.

Apply for Funding to establish a company based on research results.

The Innoexplorer programme is designed to help researchers mature and validate their research results and bring them into society through a commercial venture.

Funding Opportunities

  • Innoexplorer provides funding of DKK 500,000–1.5 million per project (including overhead).
  • Projects can have a duration of up to 12 months.
  • Funding may cover internal salaries, external services, and necessary materials and equipment.
  • Grants are awarded to the institution where the main applicant is employed.

Application Preparation and Internal Process

KU Lighthouse supports researchers throughout the application process and helps develop entrepreneurial ideas to align with the objectives of the programme. This support can strengthen the quality and competitiveness of your proposal.

As funding is awarded to the University of Copenhagen (KU) on behalf of the applicant, KU must be involved in the process and ensure the quality and viability of the entrepreneurial idea.

Each project is supported by a dedicated Innovation Advisor.
