KU Innovators

KU Innovators is an entrepreneurship programme for students and PhD students with an idea or an existing startup. The programme is open for student innovators at University of Copenhagen.

Over five workshops we will delve into your strengths, your motivation, your individual story, and your ability to ask relevant questions, prioritize tasks, and attract relevant partners and customers. You'll be introduced to and work with tools and methods that can help you take the next steps to make your idea a reality or develop your business.

Key skills and concepts of KU Innovators:

  • Understanding your target group and (future) customers
  • Building and testing hypothesis
  • Using a business model as a process tool
  • Sustainable sale and the sales situation
  • Budgets and funding opportunities
  • Communication and pitching

During KU Innovators, you will build a strong network of new and experienced entrepreneurs across UCPH, working with a wide span of subjects and industries.

With or without ECTS

You can join KU Innovators either as an extracurricular course (without ETCS) or as part of a project with ETCS – either as a bachelor’s project, master’s thesis, project in practice, an internship, or a project outside course scope.

If you’re interested in earning ECTS while working on an idea, read more about your options for doing an innovation project with and book an informal meeting with an innovation consultant from your faculty to explore your options and next steps: Benedicte (SUND), Anna (HUM, TEO, JUR) or Alida (SCIENCE).

Innovation projects with ECTS – University of Copenhagen

KU Innovators runs 4 times a year

Choose the programme that fits best in your education plan. There are 40 places on each course, which are allocated on a first come first served basis. KU Innovators is a coherent course, and we expect you to participate in all five workshops.

Since the most crucial development of your idea happens outside the workshops, we also expect you to dedicate time working with your idea between each workshop. If you get ECTS for your project please note that the work hours must match the requirements of the amount of ECTS, and you are expected to take part in our dedicated ECTS workdays.

You can participate on your own or as a team (teams must have a least one active student at UCPH).

ECTS work days

If you're doing an ECTS project through KU Innovators, you're invited - and recommended - to join our dedicated ECTS work days in addition to the 5 mandatory workshops. These sessions are where your ECTS project really gets a boost! You’ll receive 1-on-1 feedback, tailored guidance, new tools, and actionable advice from KU Innovators teachers. The focus is on your project and your progress. We’ll also support you with business development insights if that’s relevant to your work.

We start the day with community breakfast followed by individual project work, collaborative check-ins, and 1-1 feedback sessions.

  • If you’re only doing an ECTS project in either Block 1, Block 2, Block 3 or Block 4, join the 4 work days that follow your participation in the KU Innovators program.
  • If your ECTS project runs across two blocks / the full Spring semester or the Autumn Spring semester, join all 8 work days that follows your project, no matter which KU Innovators cohort you are joining. However, we highly recommend attending the KU Innovators programme in the beginning of the semester. This sets you up for the best possible learning experience.
