SKILLS FOR CHANGE – Event series by KU Lighthouse

Skills for Change is a series of fun, short, and hands-on workshops hosted by KU Lighthouse. With themes ranging from upcycling old fabrics to finding your inner passion at an IKIGAI session (a model for finding purpose), these events are designed to be a place for you to learn new skills that you can put into action in your everyday life. Think of it as a small breathing space in the middle of a busy week.
A few hours set aside to slow down, be creative, and try something new – without expectations, performance pressure, or the need to get it “right”.

In a world full of uncertainty and global challenges, it’s easy to feel like one person can’t make a difference. At KU Lighthouse, we believe that curiosity and creative problem-solving skills can empower you to do exactly that. That’s why we’ve designed these workshops as a space to get inspired, experiment freely, and explore your own path all in a relaxed, supportive environment alongside fellow students.

Each session focuses on 1-2 specific skills or perspectives that can help you grow as a student, a professional and as someone ready to make a difference. In the workshop you do not analyze the skills theoretically, but you train them in practice and the reflect on how it can be applied to your own life and potential career path. The sessions last up to three hours, so they are designed to fit easily alongside your studies. Join the workshops that interest you most or take part in the full series to gain the resources, skills and the mindset to create positive change.

Our workshops are built around the European Competence Frameworks:

  • LifeComp: Personal and social skills for everyday and professional life
  • EntreComp : Entrepreneurial skills for turning ideas into action
  • GreenComp: Skills for sustainability and environmental awareness

This ensures that everything you learn is research-backed and helps you develop the competences needed to navigate the future job market and global challenges.

The graphic is based on three European competence frameworks: GreenComp, LifeComp, and EntreComp. Together, they outline key skills needed for sustainability, personal development and innovation. GreenComp focuses on sustainability competences, including embodying sustainability values, embracing complexity in sustainability and envisioning sustainable futures. LifeComp describes personal and social competences such as self-regulation, flexibility, well-being, empathy, communication, collaboration, growth mindset, critical thinking and managing learning. EntreComp focuses on entrepreneurship competences, including spotting opportunities, creativity, vision, valuing ideas, ethical and sustainable thinking, taking the initiative, planning and management, coping with uncertainty, ambiguity and risk, working with others and learning through experience.
