Hack the Culture: Build solutions for a new cultural industry

Hack the Culture: Build solutions for a new cultural industry

Do you want to work in the Cultural Industries? Are you curious about the way that digitization and new business models can impact cultural heritage work? Do you want to ideate on real solutions for real cases in the cultural industry?

Join us for three days of exploration, ideation and collaboration among university students and PhD's. You will work with real life cases and problem-holders exploring the potential for new solutions in the cultural industry though the lens of digitization, performance, urban studies and new business models.

From Wednesday afternon, 27th September till Friday afternoon you will work in interdisciplinary teams to develop ideas and find solutions to present for an expert jury. The hackathon includes inspirational talks and close sparring with industry experts.

Why are we doing this?

The cultural and creative sectors were among the most severely impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic. A rapid push to develop new digital models of customer engagement is proving to be a challenge within the cultural sector. Also, as the funding landscape changes, there is a need to develop new business models and forward-looking scenarios.

Who are we doing it with?

Hack the Culture is part of a larger European project: Cultural Heritage 2.0 (https://culture2point0.eu/ ). Six partners across Europe, a mixture of universities, consultancy agencies and a network, have set out to drive university &cultural organizations collaboration, contribute to revitalization of the cultural heritage sector and increase their contribution to society.

Case competition partners: Villa Kultur, Volcano, Frederikssund Erhverv & Willumsens Museeum

Notice that you do not need knowledge of the cultural industry or tech to participate in the hackathon. The hackathon is facilitated by professionals within design thinking and the cultural digital industries from Human & Legal Hub and Industry players.

The event is hosted in collaboration with the Human & Legal Hub, KU Lighthouse, DigiLabs, Cultural Heriitage 2.0 & Erasmus Mundo.
