Selection criteria
The Health Innovators Programme evaluates applications based on written applications and team interviews conducted by the programme’s business developers.
Each application is scored on a scale of 1-10 across the following criteria:
Assessment of the idea
Problem
- Is the addressed healthcare problem clearly defined?
- Does the team demonstrate a strong understanding of the problem’s significance?
Idea
- Is the solution well-articulated and easy to understand?
- Are the objectives of the idea clearly stated?
Competitive Positioning
- How does the idea differentiate itself from existing solutions or practices?
- Is there evidence of market research or awareness of competing solutions?
Value Creation
- Does the solution have potential to deliver measurable social, cultural, or economic value in healthcare?
Innovation Height
- Does the idea offer novel approaches or add substantial value compared to current standards?
Feasibility
- Is the idea realistic and is there a plan for testing, implementation, scaling?
Assessment of team and commitment
Team Diversity
- Does the team represent diversity in discipline, culture, and gender?
- Are complementary skills and perspectives evident within the team?
Commitment
- Has the team demonstrated a strong commitment to participating actively in the programmeme?
- Are they dedicating adequate time and resources to develop their idea?
Assessment of the applicant’s alignment with the health innovators programme focus
Development Stage
- Is the idea in an “early-stage” of development, defined as beyond conceptual (on-paper ideas) but not yet fully prototyped or market-ready?
- Has the team taken initial steps, such as: gathering insights to explore the healthcare challenge; creating draft frameworks, sketches, or workflows for the solution; engaging potential users or stakeholders for feedback.
Readiness for Programme
- Does the team exhibit readiness to undertake critical developmental activities, including: validating the idea with users, stakeholders, or patients; prototyping or refining the initial models of the solution; collaborating with experts and engaging with the healthcare sector for testing and feedback.
- Can the team effectively advance the idea with the programme’s support?
Scoring
- 1-3: The application lacks clarity, demonstrates minimal effort or understanding, or is misaligned with the programme’s focus.
- 4-6: The application meets basic requirements but has significant gaps in clarity, feasibility, or alignment with the programme’s objectives.
- 7-8: The application is well-developed, aligns well with the programme, and shows strong potential, with minor areas for improvement.
- 9-10: The application is exceptional, demonstrating clear problem definition, innovative solutions, strong feasibility, and alignment with programme goals.
